- I did some panting and made sure that my nasopharynx is just as released as the rest of my throat. "li le la lo" 534231271.
- Precise onset!
- Think "unicorn horn" with foggy bottom.
- Have a moment of suspension before singing
- Don't force sound out, even if phlegm gets in the way.
- Stay open in nasopharynx with open vowels, and stay released in tongue/jaw/bath of throat for closed vowels.
- "Like this."
- Cue, rather than direct.
- Think of what you want, and demand that it happens without making it happen. Focus on the good.
- Precise onset for consonants: "mi si mi" 54321.
- Wobble exercises. Sound doesn't "originate" with sensation in glottis. Higher!
- Allow yourself to be lighter on higher notes.
- Legato is bouncy.
I don't know if it's the phlegm sitting on my folds, but I feel like I have some weird pressing at the glottis, especially when I'm avoiding a beat-y vibrato. But when I stop the pressing, the pressing goes away, but the beating comes back. So I'm trying to find a neutral ground of released but not beaty.
- Experimented more with thinking "ng" with everything, and keeping "lipstick on mirror" mouth, and swinging back jaw. This helped a lot.
- Experimented with thinking the "top jaw" swings away from "lower jaw," instead of the other way around. This also helped a lot. Just remember not to punt with air.
25 min. of warm up before singing.
