Practice 2/12/15

Woke up with my voice feeling pretty horrendous, actually. To be completely honest, I probably over sang the night before, and I was already pretty swollen before that point. I also refluxed over night. So yeah. Speaking wasn't very fun, either.

However, I got into the practice room today to warm up before opera, and I kept things very simple and "pressure-less." I followed along with my most recent lesson recordings, focusing a lot on the exercises that take the edge off of my sound on a normal day. I went slowly, and I kept things at a pretty quiet volume. I didn't really extend too far into my higher range, but things got much easier the more I sang.

Just as a small update, after I finished opera rehearsal, my voice felt much better than it had before I started singing. I could speak comfortably, and I didn't feel any more of the scratchiness or "pain" (it wasn't really painful, but I was worried about talking to much, that's for sure). I definitely didn't sing at my best in rehearsal, but I worked with what I had, and now my voice feels really good. I just have to be careful not to lure myself into a false sense of security and go overboard...
